Do you love using superfoods? Then olive oil is perfect for you. It is a skin superfood, and here are some reasons why. Once this little fruit from the Meditteranean is picked, it is mashed down and centrifuged to extract all the skin-loving oils. I use extra virgin organic olive oil in my skincare line to ensure that the highest quality of the oil is being used.

This press of oil is packed with healthy vitamins, fats, and antioxidants. It also helps to lock in moisture.

Let’s look a little deeper at these superfood properties and what they do for your skin. Olive oil contains the vitamins A, E, D, and K; research has shown these vitamins can help with cell regeneration, protect from UV rays, and brighten skin. Olive oil packs a healthy dose of antioxidants to help with rashes, breakouts, and dryness. Lastly, olive oil helps to lock in moisture.

Olive oil contains two compounds that put it in a class all its own. The first is squalene. Squalene is an antioxidant found naturally on our skin; our supplies deplete due to exposure to UV light and other environmental factors. The benefits of using a product that contains olive oil will keep our natural squalene level good which may help protect our skin from UV damage. Olive oil contains 300% more squalene than other oils. One study currently indicates that squalene may help fight skin cancer.

The second compound in olive oil is the polyphenol oleocanthal. Oleocanthal is a powerful antioxidant and contains anti-cancer properties as well.  Research is being conducted into the skin cancer-fighting properties of this powerful antioxidant as well.

You are wondering maybe if you would benefit from using a product that contains olive oil? The great news about olive oil is it is beneficial for all skin types. You may want to use caution if you have acne or oily prone skin as olive oil is comedogenic which means it has a tendency to clog pores.

If you want to add an olive oil product to your skincare routine, a great way is to try some of the Daisy Farmhouse Soaps. I would recommend two to try. The first is the Daisy Farmhouse olive oil ocean breeze bar. It is a perfect bar with lots of olive oil and exfoliating properties with added pink Himalayan salt.

Olive oil benefits for skin in my skincare products because it is naturally GMO-free. Early research indicates olive oil may reduce cancer-causing cells from exposure to UV rays. Olive oil is the closest match for the natural oils on our skin which maximizes moisture absorption.
